Dave Bracknell’s mother-in-law (Pam’s mother) had a heart attack last night. She is 80 years old and has a weak heart from previous heart attacks. She is in the hospital and appears to be doing OK but they won’t know how good/bad everything is until all the testing is completed. Her name is Beverly Hammer. Please pray for Mrs. Hammer and her family.

Basil & Sue Marotta
Dear Friends, greetings from beautiful Colorado! Winter is upon us…where has this year gone? Many of you are trying to recover from the elections we have just experienced. Some are pleased. I, Basil, have to admit that I experienced a sense of grief after the election. On one hand, I am grateful that as a country we have come to a place where a black man can be elected president. On the other hand, I am fearful that as a country we are turning away from GOD’S word.
But as I have thought and prayed about this, I turned all my attention to the fact that GOD and his son, JESUS are still on the throne. HIS government is what is most important. Regardless of who sits in the Oval Office, the Bible says “Surely the nations are like a drop in a bucket; they are regarded as dust on the scales; HE weighs the islands as though they were fine dust.” (Isa 40:15 NIV) That includes the United States. We may boast about being "the greatest nation on earth," but HE who sits in heaven has a different perspective. Let's take a big sigh of relief now and remember that GOD is sovereign.
I'll admit this election did not turn out as I had hoped. I supported McCain primarily because I believe strongly that life starts at conception and that marriage is between a man and a woman as GOD designed the family. The family is the core of civilization I also prefer a small-government mindset. But now that the election is over, I'm not going to harbor bitterness toward Obama supporters or go into attack mode. Obama has been elected president of this country, and that means I have a biblical responsibility to support him in prayer—even if I disagree with his policies.
Some prayers….Pray for Obama's protection….Cover his wife and daughters in prayer. It is not easy to live under constant media scrutiny. Pray that Obama will govern with GOD’S wisdom. GOD rewarded Solomon because he asked for wisdom instead of wealth, long life or vengeance on his enemies (see 1 Kings 3:11-12). Pray that Obama will order his priorities like that. Ask GOD to keep our president humble. May GOD deliver President Obama from the curse of pride. Pray for wise and righteous advisers to surround him. Ask for the spirit of reconciliation between all segments of our deeply divided society. Pray that GOD will grant forgiveness and healing so that leaders on all political levels can have constructive dialogue. Pray that Obama will adopt pro-life and pro-marriage convictions, and that his door will remain open to the church and that his decisions will be righteous ones rather than politically correct. Bind all evil forces assigned to manipulate our president. Pray that our nation will enjoy GOD’S peace and blessing during the Obama administration and pray for our troops and Israel and believers all over the world being persecuted for their belief.
Some Biblical wisdom to sustain us. So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. {36} You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of GOD, you will receive what HE has promised. But my righteous one will live by faith. And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him." {39} But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved. (Heb 10:35-39 NIV
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. {10} Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. (Gal 6:9-10 NIV)
Show me YOUR ways, O LORD, teach me YOUR paths; {5} guide me in YOUR truth and teach me, for YOU are GOD, my SAVIOR, and my hope is in YOU all day long. (Psalm 25:4-5 NIV)
The LORD is my light and my salvation-- whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life-- of whom shall I be afraid? (Psalm 27:1 NIV)
Ministry notes:
Basil …. Our men’s groups are going deeper and relationships are growing. I am working to develop a formal “helps ministry” in our church. We are told in Scripture to take care of widows and orphans. I include single moms in this group. I believe that men are called to be servant leaders and our ministry is called to help churches develop a vibrant men’s ministry including “helps ministry.”
I have led our TLG men’s group to do several helps projects, and recently helped a single mom. ”C” is a single mom with a 30 year old son N, who has had 100 brain surgeries. We did several projects at her home. “C” came out and thanked all that helped and gave a terrific testimony. ”N” came home from the hospital at birth in a vegetative state. She prayed and GOD asked her if she would take care of “N”. She committed her life to his care. He has since had all these operations and has almost died many times. She told how GOD provided the house for them 18 years ago. She has even had to battle the authorities for care for “N”. This has been a 30 year ordeal for her and she has seen GOD work miracles. She says she sees JESUS in “N”. My comment to her on behalf of all the men was, we came to work, but instead saw JESUS. On the way home, I had to fight back tears, and thought if I ever complain about a small setback again, someone should hit me with a 2x4.
JESUS taught, "Then the righteous will answer him (JESUS), 'LORD, when did we see YOU hungry and feed YOU, or thirsty and give YOU something to drink? {38} When did we see YOU a stranger and invite YOU in, or needing clothes and clothe YOU? {39} When did we see YOU sick or in prison and go to visit YOU?' {40} "The KING will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of MINE, you did for ME.' (Mat 25:37-40 NIV)
We are continuing and expanding our work with men and women individually, and couples to help restore marriages. Sue and I are presently working with several couples struggling in their marriage. It is sad that three of them have been married more than 25 years. Sue and I believe the LORD is leading us to develop a seminar for couples and would appreciate your prayers for direction.
Sue…Sue has been asked to speak to one of our larger men’s group about the marriage relationship and give a woman’s perspective. We will then have a panel to answer questions. There are several men in the group whose marriages are failing. Please pray for marriages and wisdom for us as we minister to these folks.
Sue will also be delivering three “Woman Divinely Designed” sessions in January to our church’s women’s ministry. Please keep her in prayer as she prepares these talks. Randy and Laura… Pray for Randy as he is completes his internship with a local Biblical counseling practice in preparation for a full-time position. He hopes to begin practicing in January. Continue to pray for healing of Laura’s knees.
Special Needs…Thanks for your prayers and support. A computer tech friend has repaired our laptop and gave us a used printer. We are grateful.
We are nearing the Thanksgiving holiday. We are giving thanks for all of you who pray for us, encourage us, and give generous financial support. As with most folks and ministries, the economic situation has presented us with a financial shortage. We are asking all our friends and supporters to pray about this, and see if GOD leads you to give a special extra year-end gift. All gifts are tax deductible.
We wish you a joyous Thanksgiving Holiday. You all are a blessing to us. It is a pleasure serving JESUS with you,

My father-in-law, David is very ill in the hospital and on Hospice care. His prognosis is grim and our family is with him now in Virginia. He could use our prayers; so could my wife, Pam, her sister, Karen and her brother, David Jr.
